How to download, install and play #SelfCare on your PC and Mac

If you want to install and play the #SelfCare game on your PC or Mac, you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We have worked diligently to help you understand how to use #SelfCare for your computer in 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac

Ok. First things first. If you want to use the application on your computer, first visit the Mac store or Windows AppStore and search for either the Bluestacks app or the Nox App . Most of the tutorials on the web recommends the Bluestacks app and I might be tempted to recommend it too, because you are more likely to easily find solutions online if you have trouble using the Bluestacks application on your computer. You can download the Bluestacks Pc or Mac software here

Step 2: Install the emulator on your PC or Mac

Now that you have downloaded the emulator of your choice, go to the Downloads folder on your computer to locate the emulator or Bluestacks application.
Once you have found it, click it to install the application or exe on your PC or Mac computer.
Now click Next to accept the license agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application properly.
If you do the above correctly, the Emulator app will be successfully installed.

Step 3: #SelfCare game for PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and look for its search bar. Once you found it, type #SelfCare in the search bar and press Search. Click on #SelfCare game icon. A window of #SelfCare on the Play Store or the app store will open and it will display the Store in your emulator application. Now, press the Install button and like on an iPhone or Android device, your Game will start downloading. Now we are all done.
You will see an icon called "All Apps".
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed Games.
You should see the #SelfCare icon. Click on it and start playing the Game

Step 4: #SelfCare for Mac OS

Hi. Mac Gamer!
The steps to use #SelfCare for Mac are exactly like the ones for Windows OS above. All you need to do is install the Nox Application Emulator or Bluestack on your Macintosh. You can get bluestacks here .

Game Reviews

  • Not religiously inclusive

I enjoyed this app immensely at the beginning. It is soothing and deeply kind. As a mental health professional I was excited to see this app as a resource for my clients. The problem came when I recognized the religious symbols. While some people perceive tarot cards and concepts of witchcraft as opening up and enlightening, others from different religious backgrounds feel like those things are spiritually very dark and bad for you. In this sense I find it difficult to understand the thought process behind adding them. I know people who would have incredible anxiety at even the thought of tarot cards. If the goal of this app were to be truly available to all people as a resource then these things would be excluded because they cause deep anxiety for some. It makes me think that the developers, along with helping self care, hope to encourage the users to look into Wiccan beliefs. I understand this desire if it is helpful to you. However to some that would be anxiety provoking and even offensive to some. I feel disappointed that I can no longer suggest this app. It has such a great premise and execution. But the lack of religious inclusivity is a deal breaker. If the game had an option where you could select the activities you wanted to include/exclude in your app I might be interested again. I feel like being able to customize what is helpful and not helpful could bring me back.

This game has been extremely therapeutic to me. It’s been so nice to have a safe place to go to with me at all times. I love the music and how the room slowly unlocks and makes everything feel very personal. It’s been a huge resource to me to help calm me down and ground me when everything is going crazy. My favorite app right now
  • helped me cope with worries

i’ve seen many reviews of this game saying that it’s stupid and “doesn’t work.” personally, i have found this app to be extremely calming and has helped me through many stressful events. one person left a review mentioning how “pointless” massaging the circle is, for example, but that is one of my favorite games on it. my point is, this app may not work for everyone. if you are seriously struggling with anxiety or something else that may be harmful to you or others, find real help. this game is just a little tool for mild stress or worries. and if you don’t find it helpful, just be mindful that many others, such as myself, actually do.

I’ve dealt with incredibly bad anxiety attacks every single night since I was just a child. I’ve come very far and worked out a bed time routine that helps me fall asleep without the anxiety, but it falters. This app has been the absolute savior to calming down and falling asleep!! Absolutely amazing! I wish there were more little activities to do in it, though 💕💕💕💕💕 Thanks for making such a great app

I love this app because it’s like a little escape away from reality, this app has so much potential but there just needs to be more options than to just “lay around in bed” or “stay in the room” it would be nice if our character could go outside the room for a walk or something or make breakfast or coffee, just something where our character isn’t hiding out in their room, this app is so lovely there just needs to be a better message than to just “stay inside all day”

I found this just a few days ago when I was really stressed and just in a bad place. Coincidentally the app store had this “apps for self care” thing so i looked at it, and this was one of them. It seemed simple and peaceful, so I decided to try it. I instantly loved it, the little cat, the music, the whole thing is calming. The massager “mini-game” is incredibly relaxing for me, and i love the texts that come up when you tap your character, the “focus on your fingers” sort of thing. It all really helps me feel better. And i love the little alter and the tarot cards. As someone who does believe in that kind of thing, and always seems to draw relevant tarot cards both in games and real life, and who does collect crystals and stuff for magic purposes, it all feels very genuine to me. I see a lot of people complaining about it, but if those features were removed i’d be incredibly sad. I love how whenever your sun rises fully you get a new item for your alter, and the descriptions of the items are very nice and well done. To appease the people complaining about the “wicca” game elements, and who dont understand how tarot works and what the cards are, i would suggest making them optional features on the screen. Or just encourage those people to ignore those parts of the app, as it is all optional already :) The only thing i had an issue with was the text on screen being negative, until I saw a reply to another review stating that the text would be negative if your character was still feeling negative, and now that i know that i feel much better. However, if this were explained within the app and possibly made optional, I think it would work much better. Overall though, this app is calming and atmospheric, i appreciate all the customization options, though one free background for the alter would be nice, it blends in a lot with the white one. But i really cant complain too much because this app has helped so much. I play it mostly when I cant sleep or on the bus, and it just gives you a sense of calm and helps dispel negative thoughts.

I just recently downloaded this app and I have found it so useful. I only learned today that new items are unlocked as you play but I was excited by the surprise of something new to interact with. When I feel nervous or angry (any strong emotion really) I go to the app to calm me. Even just listening to the music brings me peace. I appreciate that it is not too difficult to bring the life force back up because it helps me not get distracted or feel as though I will never make it full. I also enjoy being able to customize bits of the app (such as the rug, skin color of the person, and pieces of the interactive “games”). Personally I believe the game is very inclusive and puts a lot of thought into the words used. My only wish is that once the life force is full the person could get up or express somehow that they are ready to take the next step. Regardless, this is an amazing app. Thank you.

I've only had the app for a few days but I really love it. I agree with another user that said that the character in the game should take the next step and be able to explore the house or go outside. I also think there should be a night mode.
  • Don’t get this if you don’t want to be forced into buying something!

If I could give this zero stars I would. I just got this game and was enjoying it until it automatically charged me for three things that I didn’t even want. This is ridiculous. I’m deleting it immediately. Thanks for screwing me over.

This app is amazing. I have terrible anxiety and doing the simple tasks/breathing exercises makes me feel so good after. I could not recommend it enough, can’t wait to see what happens with it in the future.
