How to download, install and play Wordscapes on your PC and Mac

If you want to install and play the Wordscapes game on your PC or Mac, you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We have worked diligently to help you understand how to use Wordscapes for your computer in 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac

Ok. First things first. If you want to use the application on your computer, first visit the Mac store or Windows AppStore and search for either the Bluestacks app or the Nox App . Most of the tutorials on the web recommends the Bluestacks app and I might be tempted to recommend it too, because you are more likely to easily find solutions online if you have trouble using the Bluestacks application on your computer. You can download the Bluestacks Pc or Mac software here

Step 2: Install the emulator on your PC or Mac

Now that you have downloaded the emulator of your choice, go to the Downloads folder on your computer to locate the emulator or Bluestacks application.
Once you have found it, click it to install the application or exe on your PC or Mac computer.
Now click Next to accept the license agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application properly.
If you do the above correctly, the Emulator app will be successfully installed.

Step 3: Wordscapes game for PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and look for its search bar. Once you found it, type Wordscapes in the search bar and press Search. Click on Wordscapes game icon. A window of Wordscapes on the Play Store or the app store will open and it will display the Store in your emulator application. Now, press the Install button and like on an iPhone or Android device, your Game will start downloading. Now we are all done.
You will see an icon called "All Apps".
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed Games.
You should see the Wordscapes icon. Click on it and start playing the Game

Step 4: Wordscapes for Mac OS

Hi. Mac Gamer!
The steps to use Wordscapes for Mac are exactly like the ones for Windows OS above. All you need to do is install the Nox Application Emulator or Bluestack on your Macintosh. You can get bluestacks here .

Game Reviews

  • Definitely Challenging

The game gives letters and you make words from those letters, the crossword puzzle has a set amount of words to match your words to. If you come up with a word that isn’t in the crossword (proper names not included), you get a bonus coin. The more words you can find that aren’t on the crossword the more bonus coins you earn. Coins are used for hints if you get stuck not being able to come up with a word, but be careful as hints cost 100 coins. This game is definitely challenging, without needing money to play (at least so far as the third level of rounds), and I’m very happy for that. As you proceed through the levels, the puzzles become more challenging. A daily puzzle gives bonus coins as well, and is fun and different to play because it requires you to come up with a word in a particular order. The game gives you the ability to purchase more coins, but if you X out of it, it gives you a chance to earn 25 coins by watching a video, usually of another free game app. This is what I mean by this being a free game and not having to pay to play. The only downfall is that occasionally during the evenings when I’ve watched the video, I don’t receive the free 25 coins. I don’t know if it’s because a lot of players are playing and the system is getting bogged down or what. It usually only happens once. All in all, I love the game and recommend it.
  • Excellent game but 1 big issue...

Excellent game! It keeps my mind sharp and I love the daily challenges. In my opinion the ads are not bad at all! I get maybe 2 in 3 hours of playing. Unlike some games where there's 1 ad every 30 seconds, this one isn't bad at. The one BIG issue I have is that the game often won't recognize words that are real English words. The problem with that is you get a coin for every "extra" word you find that is not in the puzzle and you can then use the coins to get hints if you're ever stuck. Based on the amount of extra words I've found (that are real words and the game just didn't recognize them) I should easily have at least triple the amount of coins I actually have. Not to mention it starts to get frustrating when you find words that you've used in previous levels of this exact game, or in other word games and you're not getting the credit for it. Even more frustrating is when the game will recognize a plural/singular tense of a word, but not the opposite. For example, "urge" and "urges" the game recognized one, but not the other. The reason I stop playing every time is because I get so frustrated finding words that the game doesn't think count. If this issue were fixed, the game would be absolutely perfect in my opinion.
  • troubling advertisements

hello, I downloaded this application in the hopes of finding some nice, calming mental stimulation over my Christmas holiday. The dew drops and mountain scenes in the background really add to that; this game is, overall, quite soothing. It's like beachfront yoga for the mind. HOWEVER, I was troubled to find two recurrent advertisements throughout the application. The first is for a game called "Toon Blast" with the caption "blast the cubes." Now, I understand how some children may find this entertaining; but I am quite appalled that the Wordscapes company found that an appropriate accompaniment to my soothing afternoon playing with word puzzles -- BLASTing??? My, this is troubling to say the least. The other advert is quite alarming, as it shows a scene of an elderly couple waking their adult child and saying, "quick! we must leave -- we sold the house!" Now, this is a lot of panic to set upon my calm mind. This boy now has to renovate a house??? On a moment's notice??? And why is he living with his elderly parents?? He looks quite old. I do not appreciate being reminded of the burden children have eternally on their parents lives while I'm playing Wordscapes. Overall, great game, however I may have to stop playing if these troubling adverts don't end soon because I cannot remain calm.

Great format. The way getting words ends up giving hints for remaining words keeps the momentum going, so the experience stays fun and is rarely frustrating. If you do ever get stuck, you can buy a hint for a reasonable number of coins, which you earn at a decent rate by playing through the game, as well as with daily gifts and puzzles. Speaking of which, the daily puzzles keep your interest fresh and provide a fun twist on the format. Best of all, this game doesn’t trip you up with obscure words you’ve never heard of. Almost all of the words you have to spell are commonly recognized, and if you do happen to find any words the puzzle doesn’t use, you’re rewarded with bonus coins. This game provides an incredible number of puzzles to progress through, along with daily puzzles, all for free, only having to bear an ad every couple of puzzles. This app was very well designed. There are a lot of similar games out there, and you probably wouldn’t enjoy the overlap of having more than one, so I recommend this being the one you go with, because I really believe it’s the best one.

Very lovely uncluttered layouts and short puzzle times make this a great app for de-stressing and passing time on short bus rides, standing in line, etc. My kids also love it and will beg to "help" me find words if they catch me playing it. A few critiques: you have to do seemingly endless easy puzzles before getting to any remotely challenging ones; I wish they increased the difficulty sooner, maybe based on your solve time. Also not sure what the "brilliance" is about, and there's nothing to use the coins for either. I finished with over 3700 coins, but when I press "shop" the only option is to buy even MORE coins using real money. It's also kind of annoying that it won't accept certain real words for no apparent reason (e.g. girt, purl, cote, hod, coir, trice, creel, cant... and the list goes on). Yet it DOES use a bunch of slang words like blog, pic, toon, etc. What dictionary are they using?! Overall an excellent app, I'll probably go back and redo the upper levels from time to time (fortunately it unsolves them again after you finish).

Many words are overused for example you see words were used in multiple puzzles and far too many words that are good words- words that are not overused, are not included in the puzzles. Beautiful backgrounds and a very relaxing game. Kids should not be worse or cost 100 points but it takes 100 extra words not included the crosswords to come up with that many. To clarify what has to come back with 100 words that are not included in the puzzles just to be able to get want to hint at what hit is only one letter at a word either the entire ward that proportion is way off. Yes the same words are used over and over and over again that will be the reason that I stop playing this game. There are billions of words at the English language to use the same words over and over again completely deplete the purpose of the game. But it is a great relaxing way to enjoy a Phone game at all so I do find it addictive. It only needs slight revision. With the game finally finished is there a grand prize? it’s not clear on that.

I love playing this game to be able to challenge my brain. I also love how if you put a word on the puzzle, you can click it to see the actual definition of the word. The only thing I don’t like is how getting a hint for just one letter in whole puzzle costs 100 coins. Yes, you can get a bunch of coins, and the hints are pretty easy to pay for, but I don’t like how they are so “overpriced” and the fact that you don’t even get to pick which spot to get a hint on makes it more overpriced. But despite this little issue, (which I would love to see changed in a possible next update,) this game is super fun and is just the right amount of challenging. A lot of the time when I am bored in the car, or traveling, or just ya going out in my room, I do use this game as a time killer, which does seem to be helpful to kill time, and it’s super soothing with all the calming slow music, and how the backgrounds on the puzzles are always really pretty pictures and they are really soothing to look at, too. I definitely love this game, and would love to see the one change made to it.

Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me. I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed. She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb In the shape of an "L" on her forehead. Well, the years start coming and they don't stop coming Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running. Didn't make sense not to live for fun. Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb. So much to do, so much to see. So what's wrong with taking the backstreets? You'll never know if you don't go. You'll never shine if you don't glow. Hey now you're an All Star, get your game on, go play. Hey now you're a Rock Star, get the show on, get paid. And all that glitters is gold. Only shooting stars break the mold. It's a cool place, and they say it gets colder. You're bundled up now but wait 'til you get older. But the meteor men beg to differ. Judging by the hole in the satellite picture. The ice we skate is getting pretty thin. The water's getting warm so you might as well swim. My world's on fire, how about yours? That's the way I like it and I'll never get bored.

I’m almost to level 100 and totally thrilled with this word game. I love words and definitions (shown when you touch the word) but I’m not good at crossword puzzles or even Scrabble. This game is different because the available letters are few. And there are several HELPS available and easy to find online. Is that cheating? Well, maybe. But what good is a game that forces you to stare forever at a few spaces if you really can’t figure it out? I have tried sooo many word games that start out easy and get harder. I’ve had to give them up because I couldn’t find help so I couldn’t progress. And once I'm stuck it’s over for me. But with Wordscapes I can struggle as long as I want. And there are no penalties for TRYING weird combinations. So sometimes I discover a word by accident and that’s when it’s nice to tap the word and see the definition. I highly recommend this game for all levels of word game fans! Especially for those like me who need help to keep going! It’s a simply AweSome game ! ]:->
  • Fun, but slightly flawed

    By MaybeMilo
This is a fun little game and as many have written, it can be somewhat addictive — “one more puzzle, then off to bed!” can easily turn into three or four. And “little game” may not be appropriate, as there are enough puzzles embedded in the free version to last quite some time. A lot of the solutions come easily enough, but every once in a while I get stuck on one to two words that simply don’t come into focus, and I have to set my tablet down and come back to it later with a fresh eye. The option is always there, however, to “buy a letter” with the virtual coins earned in playing. The only irksome flaw I’ve noticed thus far (I’m not counting the intermittent “commercials” as this is, after all, the free version) is that very often the game won’t recognize and grant points for actual words. I don’t know how the developers populated their game dictionary, but they left quite a few out — quite often at least one or two per puzzle. Fix that and you’ve got a real winner, occasional commercials and all.
  • Best of its kind!

There are several word formation games out there and I've tried quite a few. But this one stands out for me, in part for its ease of use when forming the words, and "backtracking" when you realize you're not spelling what you meant. Other apps don't let you undo the word as easily. The circular formation of the letters (rather than linear) also helps your eye find other word possibilities. I find this game to be very addictive, and I marched through the first 22 levels (over 2000 games) in just a few weeks before having to wait for the most recent levels to be released. It’s a good way for some folks to build their vocabulary, I suppose, though some might find it frustrating for that same reason. The only “complaint” I have is that the background scenery is sometimes too light to see the blank space for a letter. I’ve lost count of the times I was trying to make a three-letter word when it was actually four letters.
  • Highly addictive!

I really enjoy this game, and have spent many hours playing. It’s beautifully designed and the crossword layout is an inspired addition for visual clues in finding the words. I also appreciate that the game isn’t timed, so I can do other things while I ponder my options. I do get frustrated, however, when words aren’t accepted that should be (among them: alar, alee, cant, coir, doge, ewer, fest, lei, lira, moa, nene, purl, roc, scree, steed, stet, tony, and trice). Sometimes the game accepts the singular but not the plural of a word (or vice versa)—isms but not ism, luge but not luges or luger. And I’ve occasionally had a word accepted that isn’t actually a word—baw, blar and poon—when I stopped in the middle of trying to spell something else. These aren’t terrible flaws, by any means, and I mention them only in hopes that the developer tweaks things to make an already great game even better. While they’re at it, maybe adding some explanation of “brilliance” points and other aspects of the game would also be beneficial. Enjoy!
  • What is with the coins that can not be used?

    3
    By Reader by flashlight
Were we looking for a relaxing word play and this seemed to fit the bill until they throw spinning wheels and coins across the screen as if at a casino. They add insult by not explaining the purpose of the coins or how they may be used and when we put the app down for an hour we found that 300 "coins" were removed from the cart and the depletion continued even when we started playing again as if being punished for having lunch. Apparently this app has some opinions. Developers, please loose the coins, as they have no real purpose and remove the 1-minute long ads after every puzzle, not the series of puzzles rather 1-minute ads after a each puzzle. You shouldn't be removing coins or adding coins when they can never be used. This cheapens who you are and you need to reconsider your motives. You appear as tricksters. Loose the coins, or explain their purpose and do not remove them even if someone has to go to work.

Great game an be challenging, fun and addictive. I would give it more stars but feel it’s not evenly played. My wife has been playing for months and her hints are 50 coins, I’ve been playing a couple months and enjoy the game but the hints on mine are 100 coins, the target hints 200 and rocket blast 300 totally bogus pricing. Before you say she’s at higher score(she is) I have a daughter, granddaughter and soninlaw that all signed up after I did and 2 of them at my recommendation and wait for it...... their hints are 50,100,150 coins. I’m not the only one this has happened to in the support section there are other complaints of the same thing. I sent an email to them with questions about this and I will say they answered rather quickly but with a crazy response of we’re trying different pricing to see which we decide on. What I got out of the answer was we think we can gouge some folks on the pricing so when they buy coins they get less benefit for the money they pay. I started with 2 stars but as I wrote this I down graded it go 1. Get your act together and I’ll revisit this review!!!!!
  • App by non-native English speaker

    2
    By Billy574
It’s clear that the person that developed this app isn’t a native English speaker. Many real English words are omitted, sometimes plurals, singulars, or past participles of other words that ARE accepted, or standard British spellings of the same American English words. Also, they accept words that are proper nouns, which shouldn’t be accepted in a word puzzle. As others have said, once you get to higher levels, they use very similar letter combinations as earlier levels, so it’s no longer challenging. Also, they obviously gave up on naming the levels as they repeat level names over and over. Why not go to 8 letters with a minimum of 5 letter words for higher levels? Instead you’re perpetually stuck at 6/3 or 7/4. The ads are probably only overly obnoxious if you finish levels quickly, which after playing awhile you do, so you’re forced to watch an ad every few seconds (luckily they’ve recently cut the ad times so it doesn’t take 30 seconds to watch). Great concept, poor implementation.
  • Keeps me sharp, best word game!!

    5
    By debialdo
First off I have to say that this game is so visually appealing it’s soothing. Love, love the land and water scapes. I’ve been addicted to this to this game for a while - I really like it I am big on word games, it’s basically the only type of games I play. I love the addition of the dictionary so you can see what some words mean since sometimes I’m creating words I didn’t know. I did notice, that sometimes I put in a word and it won’t take it at first, but then later in that same puzzle it will take it so there must be some order they have to be added that I wasn’t aware of...or is that a glitch? Even though many of the words are played over and over, because they’re in different puzzles and connected to different words it still keeps you guessing and wondering - I like it it’s keeping me sharp.
  • Fun but BATTERY HOG

    By D Frey
Updated Review: the further you progress in this game, the more you realize that they use the same words over and over and over in these puzzles. It gets to where the puzzles that should be challenging really aren’t that hard, because you’ve memorized the whole population of words they’ve used. And they still haven’t fixed the issue with bonus/extra words. These are words that aren’t in the puzzle, but you get credit (coins) for them because they’re real words that can be formed from the given group of letters. Problem is, some real words count, and some don’t. That’s STUPID and ANNOYING. Either give credit for real words or don’t. Clearly, the reason for this is that if they give you too many coins, you won’t buy as many coins through in-app purchases. So they’ve made the game stupid in order to maximize revenue. That’s lame. ————— The game itself is great. Challenging after the early levels. It’s pretty frustrating that a lot of actual words aren’t allowed as extra words. That needs to get fixed pronto. But the biggest irritation is the battery drain this game causes. Get on that, devs. I see a lot of griping about ads. If you don’t like them, just pay for the ad free version. I did. It’s not expensive. Less than a latte or a beer, and will last you a thousand times longer.
  • Too many ads!

    3
    By abrashoffs
I would rate this a heck of a lot more stars if I didn't get an ad every time I finish solving a puzzle. I understand this is how they are making money, but this is getting ridiculous. I would understand having a couple of commercials after the end or middle of every section, but having a commercial or ad at every other or every three is really making me consider whether I should keep this app, despite the fact that it is soooo awesome! Please tone down the occurrence of these ads developers, so that I will want to keep this! I like the way the game is laid out and the gameplay itself, I just get frustrated when an app like this is awesome and the only downside to playing with an app like this is the copious amount of ads that disrupt my gameplay. I know you are trying to do this to force users to buy something that would get rid of the ads, but it just makes me want to delete this app!
  • Superb game could use improvements

    By KareninStLouis
This game is great with a couple of irritations. It’s great because it’s different, increasingly challenging, and downright fun. I had to upgrade to the version without ads very quickly. Ads were way too frustrating. Two problems: one is the failure to recognize valid words. I can’t imagine what dictionary this app is using. Sometimes it will even recognize a word in one puzzle, but not recognize it in others, as if it is limiting the number of points scored. Is using puzzle-specific dictionaries? The other irritation is repetition. Similar combinations of letters are used in multiple puzzles so you’re creating the same words over and over. It’s very refreshing when a totally new word comes around. Overall this game is so great that it’s currently the only one I’m playing.

I'm enjoying this game. There's no time limits, no limits on guesses, no limits on reshuffling. The music is nice too and I love all the backgrounds. Every so often I'll make a real word but the game doesn't recognize it and that's a little frustrating but not a huge deal. It's nice to find a game I feel like I'm good at. I'm not good with timing games or strategy games, but I have a decent vocabulary so this is a perfect way to entertain myself. The one thing I would add is a way to tap on a word you made in the puzzle and read the definition. Then I could expand my vocabulary and it would be a great learning tool for kids as well. Maybe at the end of a puzzle, instead of immediately going to the next one, have it stay there and give the opportunity to tap on the words before going to the next puzzle.

I will be very sassy as I ask how will asI ever get any sleep with this app on my iPad? So far I have no real complaints. I’ve disagreed with a fair number of words you wouldn’t accept & I am a history-English summa c.l. BA. but that does worry me as I see the disagreements growing as I go on. Just be ready when I get my sass up! But for a very real “review” I must tell you that I think this is the best-organized, best-technical app I have ever tried. I do not understand those folks who complained about it going down, losing entries or whatever. That’s all I can say about them. To the people who are Wordscapes: just keep up the great work & increasing that vocabulary of seldom heard-of words. Thanks for something that might have been created just for me. (And my son, who is one of us, too!)

    By L.a.St...
UPDATE: The developers fixed the issue right away! Thank you for the prompt response. Like many reviewers are saying, there are a lot of ads and it gets annoying. The developers have responded to some of the reviewers stating the cost of removing the ads is comparable to the cost of a sandwich or coffee. Basically, if you have the money to buy yourself something to eat or drink, you have the money to be ad free. Ok developers, you sold me on it!! So, I paid the $2.99 and spent maybe 30 minutes playing the games in peaceful ad free bliss. But alas, my lunch break ended and I had to return to work. Since that time (2 days now), my app will not open! I’d truly appreciate it if the developers would fix this or refund my money so I can go buy that sandwich I missed out on.
  • Just Starting but Great So Far...

    By Quesadilla135
Just downloaded but am moving quickly through the levels and really enjoying the game. I totally don't mind the ads as they are at the bottom of the page and don't interfere with concentration. I enjoy finding the challenge words and extra words and think this is going to be a great addition to my leisure time. TIME PASSES....In the beginning the ads truly were at the bottom of the page. After reaching a certain point in the levels, however, lengthy ads were popping up WAY too frequently and definitely are a nuisance to full enjoyment of the game. It's worth the $2.99 to get rid of them. I'm disappointed the game builders chose this method of getting our money. I would have felt better just paying for the game outright.
  • Why are there so many ads?

    1
By Sick of Ads 2: Ad Boogaloo
The game in of itself is fun and quick. The major problem is the religion and multitudes of ads; they have an ad at the bottom of the screen while playing and an ad for some overly colorful game after each round. Now, most of these will play for a few seconds when you’ll have an “x” pop up in the top right corner that lets you exit out...right into a repeat, if not slightly put together differently, of the previous ad. Then, there’s the biggest bastard of them all: some awful remake of the classic Bejeweled where instead of having an “x” pop up in the top right corner, they have the sound on/off option which makes you sit through the whole 30-seconds of the ad. The ad redundancy is just awful and makes the game slightly unbearable. It’s a shame that games have come to this but I would highly recommend just going to a bookstore or a newsstand and getting a class black-and-white crossword puzzle or any of the other puzzle books.
