Game Reviews

This Suduko app has some nice features...namely love the pencil and eraser and the fact they are relatively easy to use. After I played for first time I got so frustrated I deleted app and let my thoughts be known. I am fairly new to game but still know how to play. Was just relaxing while trying to work through a puzzle not realizing if I wrote in 3 numbers wrong I would be required to start all over. I like to play just to challenge myself and I was angry I would have to start all over. After all it was not like I was just randomly sticking numbers in. I had invested a lot of time in puzzle. Although pencil and eraser is simpler to use than I had imagined, it still was a pain and so at the late hour I was playing I got a few wrong. Well it turns out in settings there is an option to turn off the 3 mistake limit!!! Would have saved me time and energy had I known that ahead of time and not in a developer response almost a month after the fact and so I pass this info on to those who would prefer this option. Now that I have become aware of that I have no reason not to give 5 stars. Sudoku is not and never will be my favorite game but this game gives me everything I need when I do want to switch things up!
  • 3 tries????

    By shashonn_m
I was obsessed with this app when I first downloaded it about a month or so ago and would play several games for literally hours. I took a break from it for a week before coming back to it and I don’t know if it updated or something while I was away from it, but there are a few things now that I greatly dislike. For one, I don’t like that once I’ve used one of the numbers up it just disappears; I feel like the challenge is not noticing when I’ve used the numbers up or not and I think this new change is unnecessary. Secondly, now I see that if you put a number incorrectly in the square three times then you lose the game altogether and you have to start the whole game over. This is extremelyyyyyy annoying because I hate games where I have a small amount of times to do well in a game. What is the purpose of having “tries”? Why not continue letting me make my mistakes until I finish the round? Why interrupt me in the middle of analyzing the puzzle? Sometimes I’ll accidentally press a number by accident and so this makes it even more annoying because I hadn’t meant to use up a “try”. I wish this app would go back to the way it was before because now I don’t play it as often and even deleted it for a few days because I was so annoyed.
  • Ad placement lousy

    By Purdueet
First, with a couple exceptions I really like the app. It has great features. For the challenge I like to play it with no extra tools or hints that I’ve made a wrong entry. At times I get to the end and there’s a problem I can’t undo easily so I just want to start over. I can’t see how to do that without “un-doing” every move, or selecting each square and hitting erase. Please add a button to clear the puzzle to start over. My second concern is irritating enough to delete the app and find another game. On my IPhone 6s it’s the tight placement of the ad banner next to the number entry at the bottom of the screen. If I play with two hands inevitably I miss the number and hit the ad banner which takes me to another page. I understand the need for ads with a free game. But, that placement is so close that I mistakenly hit the ad many many times during a puzzle and I lose my place or thought process. It is maddening. I don’t even look at the ad, I get frustrated and immediately hit the button to return to sudoku. I’m glad you get the clicks for the advertising revenue but it feels like a setup with the layout so you get those clicks. Please fix these. It would be a 5 Star review otherwise!
  • Last update is horrible!

    By Pioens
Update: The weird game-in-game mode is gone and the original game is back!! Adjusted my ratings- Thank you! PS-I have no problems with ads like other reviewers; they’re easy to turn off in settings. Have been playing this game for a long time, and this really was my go-to relaxation, but the latest update is horrible! -The level selection at the start is annoying. -Then the forced ‘choose your daily bonus’; I don’t want any bonus!! I just want to play sudoku! -Then the 3 strikes and you have to watch an ad to continue is highly annoying and frustrating. I know I can turn off the mistake limit, but I can’t turn off this new ‘game mode’. These updates to the game are annoying and horrible and make me dislike a previously fun and relaxing game. -Also, suddenly the ads at the end of each game have become much, much longer. I’d think the developers should think about why people play Sudoku (a classic ‘brian game’!) before doing ad placement and updates in this way. Too bad you ruined a great game just so you could charge more for ads and ad-free play! Update: To the developers response; Did you read my review?! I said I know I can turn it off- but I can’t turn off the stupid game mode!! And I did send a message through the help section too, so this reply completely missed the boat.
  • Great puzzles but intrusive ads

    By Sideshowcris
These puzzles are maddeningly more difficult than the last sudoku app I had on my phone. They make me feel like an utter moron for a long while before I finally crack them and feel like a superhero. The controls menu could be a little clearer (for example, “New Game” is misleading; I’d change it to “Options”), but overall the puzzle interface is intuitive and easy to use. However, the incredibly long and unskippable ads for BS Candy Crush clones or Clash of Clans-style phone RPGs really dampen my joy. What’s worse, they play before they show my final time/score, which adds a certain dread that creeps up during the home stretch of finishing a game in anticipation of the annoyance. Because of this, I rarely play more than one game at a time. I would gladly pay for a pro version to make these intrusive between-game ads go away. The puzzles are my new favorite daily challenge, but the annoying ads keep the app from five stars.
  • Was great before the recent update

    By HellboundKnight
This has been one of my favorite apps for a long time. Clean, simple, and easy to use with good puzzles. The recent update has introduced far too many advertisements though. I understand the need for adverts as an important revenue stream, and had absolutely no problem sitting through them whenever I began a new game considering it allowed me to play the games for free. The recent update however has now made it so that every time I open the app, I have to sit through the same advertisements over and over just to finish one darn game. I mean, at least switch up the ads or something, but having to sit through the half minute of adverts numerous times just to complete one game because I don’t have half an hour to dedicate to sit down with it is too much. And I’m sorry but $7.99 is just too high for removing ads from a Sudoku app. That’s just not worth it. Thank you guys for the great service up to now, but unless the adverts go back to between every game, I’ll be looking for another app.
  • Game nice, ads HORRIBLE, overpriced

    By chiphines
Update: received a note from the developer saying that the game is "completely free" thereby missing the points I was trying to make. First, while it is true that one doesn't pay money to get the game, the user does pay a much bigger price than normal in terms of having to watch relatively lengthy ads between each game. Second, they do in fact get paid for showing the ads which is why we don't pay, and if we want to get rid of ads we have to pay the to do it. IMHO, they don't get the basic economics wherein they have to "charge" the consumer no more than (s)he is willing to pay. Every second the consumer has to sit waiting to play is time they aren't enjoying. So I'm now using my old version of Sudoku by another vendor that does require ads but they don't take up nearly as much time. That one is nowhere as pretty, and it doesn't show all 9 numbers with their version of the pencil. I hope they get the point - cut ad time in half and they will get more users. I do like all but a few things in the product, but won't do much with this unless the "cost" of using it goes down. Previous input: The good: game is nice and looks good. A few fixes would be nice The bad: over priced $8.00 is too much. The Ugly: you get twice as many ads, they don't have shortcuts, they appear when you finish a game 2 ads, and again if you start another. Really not worth the trouble when other games work the same if not as pretty.
  • Suduko

    By SandyBeachDM
As a senior, doctors said, "try new things," ie Games, music, etc. to spark and re-route brain cells. This Suduko is part of a 3 or 4 game self-challenge I use to check speed, problem solving & comprehension. I like this iphone Suduko better than the other app I tried. Timing and thinking have to do with whether I'm ill or not, and what effect medication change has on my brain. Also, the games are FUN❗️ It's been a bit of adjustment for my ego to realize I may never get the speed of the players younger and healthier than I am, when I make comparisons. I have played against myself and love to see the improvement. I also like the difficulty options, according to the needs of my condition. I'm impressed with the people who create the programs for these games. You are all probably the age of my grandsons, approaching 30 years of age. Thanks, SandyB 👩🏼/👵🏼 🐬👍🏼
  • Great features! Great app support!

    By Freddo367
I love this app's customization features. You can toggle features such as highlighting duplicates, or every one of a number, auto correct, etc. So when I play I turn most of them off, but when I hand my phone to a child we turn most of them back on. It really helps to customize the level of difficulty and make the experience exactly what you would like it to be. Also, their support is amazing! There was one pop up ad that was hijacking the app and driving me nuts. I was going to give it a bad review, but noticed some reviews said they received a response from support and thought I'd try it too. Within 24 hours of contacting them I received an email telling me they blocked the annoying ad. And they did!
  • Unbearable ads play sound while phone is muted

    By AgnesMcGee
I have been using this app daily for several months now, and have really enjoyed it. BUT I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DON’T INSTALL IT. Just recently it has started serving up ads to me that blast sound EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE AUDIO SWITCH TURNED OFF ON MY PHONE. It shows a complete lack of respect for their users that this company engages in this practice. If my sound is turned off, it’s because I don’t want my phone to make noise! To have an ad come blasting out of it all of a sudden — and often with NO WAY TO STOP IT — is embarrassing to me and rude to those around me. I reported the problem to them, and sent screen shots and the time and date it happened three times, at their request. But clearly they believe that allowing it to continue will somehow benefit their advertisers. I have deleted the app and won’t reinstall it, or any other products from this company. One of the most infuriating things I’ve ever experienced with an app.
  • Excessive amount of 30 second ads kills the game.

    By Possumlady
Nice Gameplay but the length of ads kill it. I don’t mind ads normally, but these are above and beyond most apps. The time consumed by the ads makes the game unplayable. Until they shorten them I would suggest playing a different Sudoku app. Many games need ads. We recognize this and normally are ok with it. The amount of ads isn’t the issue, it is the fact that they are 30 second ads and they happen after each game, if you select ‘second chance’, and some 30 second ads after hitting new game. (Mostly 5 second skips here) This time adds up and goes far beyond the norm. 5-10 second ads are plenty long enough to entice gamers. When they run long it frustrates the consumers and not only do they not click the advertised product, they delete your product as well. I hope you guys consider adjusting this, it would be a great game, it just is not worth the hassle as is. EDIT FOLLOWING DEVELOPER RESPONSE: Some ads can be skipped after 5 seconds. The ones I refer to have a 29 second timer and no X until it expires. The 5 second ads are normal and expected on ad supported games, the others are excessive. You are not acknowledging this exists so I doubt it will be fixed. I’m Deleting the app and moving on, No need for support to tell me how to count down from 30 or hit the X, but thanks for the offer.
  • Shocking and Inappropriate

    By AuntieAdel
I love the fame sudoku. I used to play it very frequently as a child so when I saw the advertising of the app come up as part of my Instagram feed I didn’t hesitate to search you out and download your app. But the commercials are very long and difficult to exist out of which was annoying by itself but today right after coming home from telling my nieces and nephews to download the app and enjoy the game. I opened the app to find a naked porn commercial interrupting my game. I was so shocked I abruptly closed out of the app and forgot to get the name out of the commercial for you. But I need to make you aware that that’s very offensive and needs to be removed immediately!
  • Horrid

    By that one chickkkkk
When I downloaded this game I was excited and in hope of getting better at sudoku. Now I didn’t realize that it only let you have 3 mistakes. In my opinion not at all fun when you can’t have a few mistakes. I’d rather like it to be where you can place it there even if it’s wrong and the number won’t disappear until they are all placed right instead of limiting your mistakes. It could be colorful too, that might have helped with the sudden wave of boredom I got from seeing black and white everywhere instead of having a pop of color or a theme to it. Usually I love sudoku but this made it worse for me and now I don’t want to play sudoku anymore thanks to this app.
  • Game within a game!

    By Stingraystripe
Because this app drains your battery like no other, you can create a game within a game where you guess how much battery life will be sacrificed per game (hint: it’s about 2% per minute, even on airplane mode... so you really have to wonder what it’s doing in the background!). And it’s really fantastic in the winter. If you’re outside. Without gloves. Cuz this thing will heat your phone right up - literally hot to the touch! Note to “developer” - please spare me the canned response of ‘we’re working on this so stay tuned for future updates.’ Fact- YOUR app has only made my phone get hotter to the touch and burn even more battery with every release. Seriously, just WTH are you gathering in the background for this app?! Ridiculous! Sodoku is just basic math - NO reason whatsoever to make the phone work hard. Unless you’ve got some really sketchy stuff you’re up to. Steer clear of this app and this developer!!!
  • HATE this new update!

    By TooBZ2Bbored
This is what I said before the update: Love that you can put the pencil marks in easily, that if you fill a column with the same number the pencil mark erases. Easy to use and navigate the site. Only suggestion I have is to make the first game that pops up be an option for the daily challenge. NOW: HATE this! Going to look for a new app. SO bummed because I really liked it. Now the freaking Toon Blast ads after every game (and before some games) last forever and sometimes there’s two things to click to get out of them. I am NEVER going to play Tune Blast so STOP!!! Also HATE that you all of a sudden get 3 tries and if you make 3 mistakes all of a sudden you’re locked out unless you watch a freaking ad! UGH!!! Why do you change one of only two games I play daily into something that’s a pain! You’ve got a couple of days to fix it otherwise I’m done and deleting!
  • Ads, ads, ads, and more ads

    By break the norm
Two of the same ads back to back (oftentimes that you cant even close) before and after every single game you play...seeing the same ads over and over, game after game gets old super quick. And as of April 2018, it’s $7.99 to go ad free!!! I usually pay to remove ads and I really wanted to for this app because the interface is pretty good compared to other sudoku apps. But no way no how I’d pay eight bucks to remove ads when there are so many other sudoku apps that’ll let you go ad free for 99 cents, maybe $2 max. Developers must be desperate of greedy...I dunno. Deleted after a few days. At least diversify ur ads for cryin out loud. At least make good use of the ads that you let on the app twice in-between every game played. Right now, the way the ads are placed, along with the ridiculous price to go ad free makes this app a must-delete.
  • Worst app ever!!!!!!!!😤‼️ this is a big mistake!!!!!!!

    By #cutehearti♥️🐶
I hated this app! It's the worst! There are no ads, thankfully! Easy is hard, not easy! Well, maybe it is easy, but still, it's bad! None of the rows or columns match up. It takes you minutes (what seems hours) to complete a single puzzle! It's good for Big-Brain-Thinkers. (or smart people) I deleted it, but it was hard. I'd prefer a hard word cross game instead. But, I'm also tired. So, it really could be a great game. Sorry if this is a big mistake. Take other people's word for it, not mine. Bye, hope you liked this review! I'm super sorry this is a really big mistake! I was just really tired that night. But I'll stick with this other sudoku game, sorry. I'm so sorry about your app. I feel real bad. I'm show me great apps. ☹️😭😐
  • Clean, Simple, Fun

    By Brucebrucerson
There are absolutely no complaints I can make about this game. It isn’t something new or original, obviously sudoku has been around for a long time, but the interface is easy to use and makes play convenient. It feels clean, simple, and intuitive. Some things I might like to see in the app going forward are possible guide levels. I think tutorials on sudoku techniques ranging from beginner to advanced would be a wonderful addition. It could show players the different strategies and scenarios to use them in order to improve themselves, as well as circumventing the need to use online guides.

    By Lane C-137
This app is amazing and this would be a five star review if it weren’t for the three mistakes rule. If you didn’t already know, when you make three mistakes it says game over and you restart the puzzle, or watch an ad to get a second chance. I don’t know why this was added but it is annoying especially for people newer to Sudoku trying to learn (me) I loved this app and when they added color change, it was amazing, but now I don’t play it as often because now with the mistakes rule, you stress out and don’t learn from your mistakes. Aside from that this is an amazing app and has limitless Sudoku puzzles on all difficulties. I really love this app just it needs to get rid of or at least make the mistakes rule optional.
  • Sadness

    By Nonipanoni
I've had this app for months now and I really enjoy it. I play it every night before bed because it's calming and it makes me tired. For months now I had my heart set on finishing all of the daily challenges for each month this whole year, which I did and I was moving onto last year. Without knowing I accidentally deleted the app and in turn it deleted all my process. I really love this app but that's almost 6 months of daily challenges gone and I'm really upset about it. I think for the future maybe add in an account feature so people don't lose their process. Keep up the good work and thanks for making my favorite suduko app❤️
  • glitches?

    By freston88
i love sudoku and i loved playing on this app until here recently it was great BUT the past couple games i have played i will put in a number and it tells me it’s wrong so i go and double check myself and it can’t be any other number so i watch an ad to get a free hint and then use that hint to tell me the number that goes there and guess what it’s the number i typed in!! i thought ok maybe i made a mistake and hit the wrong number but then in another game same issue and i double checked that i hit the right number!! i love a challenge but since it only gives 3 mistakes before it ends the game it’s really starting to annoy me to the point of finding a different sudoku app and deleting this one for good!!!
  • Unsolvable Puzzles

    By Reverend Slug Slime
Would’ve given it 5 stars except for the fact that I have run into 3 unsolvable puzzles so far, out of roughly 200 played. I double checked them online to make sure I wasn’t just stuck. A newbie or inexperienced player might become extremely frustrated and turned off from an otherwise relaxing, educational, mind strengthening game and I imagine an experienced player might just say “uh-uh” and erase the app altogether. Other than the unsolvables, the way the app functions and plays is fantastic. Very easy to use once you find the settings tab. Could probably use a tutorial or something to direct you to it immediately.
  • Ad-HEAVY, $$$$ for ad-free

    By DocB_007
250 K ratings, huh?? REALLY? IS THAT how much you had to pad just to get your overall above 4.5? I just plain DON’T BELIEVE those numbers, unless there are a LOT of folks out there who don’t mind feeling like patsies. This feels more like extortion than any game I’ve tried recently. The ads STOP the show between ALL games AND at other times as well, they are very obnoxious, demanding nearly half a minute or so & two or more screens (with forced wait on EACH screen). Ads are SO disruptive I can’t IMAGINE playing this more than a handful of times before either paying TEN BUCKS(!!!!) to remove them, or (and this seems the only logical choice) DELETING THE GAME & finding a MUCH less heavy-handed, overpriced version among the MANY sudoku options available. The interface IS nice (when it’s not being eclipsed by the ads), and it’s just TOO BAD they’ve chosen such guerrilla tactics to market this. I, for one, HATE feeling trapped, duped, or forced to go along with someone’s idea to try to sell me something or make money off me. Try a little less greed (I’d have been ok paying a couple bucks for this, but TEN???), a little less coercion, and (this is the MOST important) a little more RESPECT for clients/ potential customers!
  • The app is good the number buttons trick you

    By SylarUchiha
The game give you 3 chances for the wrong answers, after that you have a couple seconds to accept and watch an annoying add for a life, or to just start a new game. I thought it was me that time to time I press the wrong number bye accident, at least until I start playing with a stylus. You can’t go more precise than a pen stylus. The game on purpose press the wrong number, usually the one at the right of the one that you press. Doing so it forces you to lose, so you don't have any other choice. Or you watch the annoying add, or just star from scratch. Whatever is happening is really annoying. To bad for a good app. Im deleting it in ... 3...2...1... Good bye
