How to download, install and play Dead Island: Survivors on your PC and Mac

If you want to install and play the Dead Island: Survivors game on your PC or Mac, you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We have worked diligently to help you understand how to use Dead Island: Survivors for your computer in 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac

Ok. First things first. If you want to use the application on your computer, first visit the Mac store or Windows AppStore and search for either the Bluestacks app or the Nox App . Most of the tutorials on the web recommends the Bluestacks app and I might be tempted to recommend it too, because you are more likely to easily find solutions online if you have trouble using the Bluestacks application on your computer. You can download the Bluestacks Pc or Mac software here

Step 2: Install the emulator on your PC or Mac

Now that you have downloaded the emulator of your choice, go to the Downloads folder on your computer to locate the emulator or Bluestacks application.
Once you have found it, click it to install the application or exe on your PC or Mac computer.
Now click Next to accept the license agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application properly.
If you do the above correctly, the Emulator app will be successfully installed.

Step 3: Dead Island: Survivors game for PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and look for its search bar. Once you found it, type Dead Island: Survivors in the search bar and press Search. Click on Dead Island: Survivors game icon. A window of Dead Island: Survivors on the Play Store or the app store will open and it will display the Store in your emulator application. Now, press the Install button and like on an iPhone or Android device, your Game will start downloading. Now we are all done.
You will see an icon called "All Apps".
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed Games.
You should see the Dead Island: Survivors icon. Click on it and start playing the Game

Game Reviews

  • What a waste of a once great franchise

    By david.bridge298
The tower defense gameplay on its own isn’t very interesting or special. It’s honestly pretty bland. That’s not why this game gets two stars though. It’s because EVERYTHING is behind a long timer or pay wall. That’s normal though for a mobile game though, right? Sure. But having 1 worker unit (also what is that doing in a dead island game?) to share between opening suitcases with normal 3-8 hour timers and upgrading equipment. Let’s say you decide to open a suitcase for 8 hours. Now you cannot upgrade defenses for 8 hours. Even when you decide to to upgrade defenses, say like a turret, that turret is now offline for at least an hour. You have to make a choice between playing without viable defenses or waiting to play the game. Of course unless you give them money. But it’s a mobile game, mircrotransactions are to be expected, right? Yes. But the game needs to earn your money. This game doesn’t. It’s boring and agonizingly slow unless you put in your money to speed things up. You need workers to make the game move along faster. A single worker is over $5. $5 just to be able to work on a defense item and a suitcase at the same time. What a waste of the Dead Island name. You want to put your money towards something fun, go find the original games for dirt cheap. At least the game trailer was good.
  • watered down

    By HerbS2urnerves
they put a watered down tower defense version of the beta Pc game they shut down 2 yrs ago, and the controls on this are bad. This exact freemium game was once on Steam and ppl spent money then to buy characters and open loot crates. Then they pulled the project out of the blue, i guess no1 was enjoying playing a PayToWin game. Now they are doing the same exact thing but on mobile. I want to warn any potential buyers that this company is more than likely to shutdown your game, effectively stealing whatever money you spent on it. Also if there's any sense in you, you wont fund pay-to-wins because they are ruining all of gaming. Pay to win means giving the person with the fattest wallet a cheat to guarantee their win. This means no skill is involved in gameplay just paid-for cheats. If spending money on a flimsy company that always shutsdown their games is fun for you, then you like freemium. Also in freemium games no matter how much you spend or progress it wont matter the system is designed to always match you against stronger opponents in order to make you lose so that you will be more inclined to Pay again in the hopes of getting a win. This is the law of every freemium, and the entire game boils down to spending and losing, while progression only happens during spending.
  • Wow, I use to play the beta on PC, but it’s different.

    By teh.FunKiller
Update: so yeah, I had some time to play the game. It’s not what I remember playing a few years ago. It’s a bit different from the PC BETA that I remember. My opinion: controls are terrible. I don’t like the tap-to-move control scheme on tablets. Funny thing is, on PC I wanted click-to-move (Diablo controls), but I got WASD movement. On iOS they do the Diablo controls, and I hate it. Maybe on small phones it’s okay, but on a large screen like iPad Pro 10” or bigger, it’s difficult to hold the tablet in one hand and tap with the other—a floating joystick is perfect for these types of games on this platform. Add both options to settings is my suggestion. Lastly, I tend to not spend much money on games that offer $99 packages. Why? Because that opens the gates for whales to take over, making your $5, $10, $20, heck, even $40 worthless in this environment. Whales spend in the $100’s to $1000’s, so get the idea.
  • Has potential

    By Arkainos
Starts out as a really fun game and has the potential to become amazing. Here is the cons that should be addressed: I get that this is a company and you want to make money but gems should not be so imbedded that in order to progress at a reasonable rate you must purchase them. The chest times are 3 hours or more each and workers are extremely expensive. You may get lucky every 4 hours and get two island missions that only award 4 gems each. Sorry but that is just ridiculous. The character movement is a bit wonky too. Sometimes my Zara runs backwards or gets stuck in a certain spot on the map. Hopefully you guys will change some things around and your player base might become huge and still profitable with a more reasonable platform. Update: On island #6 and game has become almost unplayable with constant lag and disconnects. Fix your servers please and I’ll bring my rating back up some.
  • The Game Is Great

    By xMagic666
Personally I love The Whole Dead Island series and this follows suit, the game offers variety, immersion, and makes you feel in control. This game is worth your time, the only problems I have is that the tutorial drags a little but gives good advice and does a good job of not holding your hand too much, and the game feels less freeing than it could, the game feels very linear instead of having options, and I get it, but that’s not for me, I think if the game offered the option to explore any island first and progress through difficulty instead of locking areas off that would be great. All and all the game is fantastic 9/10
  • A Nice Dead Island Throwback

    By AmishHacker
I loved Dead Island and Riptide despite its flaws so Dead Island Survivors is a nice return to Banoi with many of the same characters and same environments as the original games. It’s a nice mix of tower defense with hack and slash that has kept me entertained for quite a while now. I’m even inspired to possibly reinstall the originals and play them again. However, the game is not without its quirks. It would be nice to have a zoom option when the hordes attack but I assume the designers limited the FOV to give the sense of a “fog of war”. Micro transactions abound but it’s possible to play the game effectively without having to buy rubies or resources if you’re strategic and patient with your gameplay.
  • Great Game! Just a tad Sllooowwww

    By Kmspinner17
This game has me addicted! It’s a really great time consumer and all around great for wanting that adventure game with a splash of leveling up and creating your own defense against hordes! My only issues with the game thus far is the lagginess of the actual gameplay and some of the moves that are done in game. Sometimes i slide as B to do a powerful attack and it doesn't register so i have to do it repeatedly until he preforms the move. This game shows a ton of great potential with no Ads, in game purchase boosters, and great idea to story line and fun puzzle like combat. King gives this app a solid 4-4.5/5 stars!!! Enjoy
  • Make it playable on multiple devices

    By Cb97
It would be nice to play my same game on multiple devices. Link it with Google, Facebook, or Game Center. Make it easier to find other players in the game. Don’t let players have the same name. I started one game on my phone and one on my tablet and both were able to have the same name. No warning saying that the name was already taken. I never played the beta version. I agree, that the controls for your player when using a large tablet, are annoying. Will switch to 5 stars if I can link my game across devices.
  • I like this a lot

    By Pekado
You know I really don’t see the issue of spending money YET. I’ve been playing this for 8 hours straight. And really enjoying I like that they used characters for the games. And I love the fact that I have to strategize all my moves. I do wish my phone would keep enough charge to play this non stop. Only complain I guess you can say I have. I do wish that they would have more cut scenes. But loving the heck out of dropping the zombies and would like to know if this is part of the storyline.
  • The pay wall is real

    By WillemDafoe
The game on its own is okay. Decent tower defense game with a tap and click hero. Game has cards and leveling similar to a clash game. All this is okay, but the need to spend money is apparently clear and early. Boxes are ridiculously long wait times for little benefits. The worker system in the game is very slow paced. Ive played for about 2 days and have become pretty bored of the game already. Maybe if they add in a login event type thing, lower box timers, adjust it so you don’t use a worker for boxes, this would certainly help speed the pacing of the game. Honestly I would suggest adding some more substance to the game. There is nothing that sets the game apart and I would expect more from this title.
  • Has the potential to be a great game but..

    By Seni Membreno
Having people spend money in order to advance in the game and to not wait several hours to open boxes and unlock loot is not the way to go. To many games nowadays are built around tempting u to spend money to avoid waiting hours just to unlock anything and to progress at a decent pace compared to waiting several hours if u DON’T want to pay extra features. It’s clear after the first 20 min of the game that it’s based off the idea that spending money is the way to go and if you don’t then have fun waiting hours just to play and advance and for that, it doesn’t deserve more then 2 stars.

    By cjdbysggfb
This game is awesome! The graphics are pretty good, the health of zombies aren’t to much, the weapons are awesome, you get suitcases that have cards to level up your defense mechanisms, you can save survivors (from the zombie apocalypse),and once you finish one island there are more islands to help! There is just one downside no matter what gender you are you always start with Sam B(who is a boy(but as you play more you can unlock other people))otherwise it’s great! This game got five stars from me and I don’t give five stars easily😉😉😉😉
  • Loot box unlock timers ruin it!

    By Wolfen Pup
The gameplay is interesting enough. I keep hoping for a fun new zombie themed game, and keep being disappointed. The loot box system that has you waiting 8 hours to open a box or spending $20 will kill this for most people as it has for all the other games using the same money grab systems. Progression is blocked behind these boxes and a drastically increasing curve of ingame currency cost to upgrade cards creating a major taste of artificially extended gameplay. It is nearly a full time job to make any progression at all. It is aimed at milking money from the overworked, upper-middle class who have money to lose and minor gambling addictions.
  • Don’t stop now :)

    By DoctorHindsight
Absolutely fantastic game! Unlike the console games of Dead island, this is an over the top third person strategy defense game, and more! You can go out on different islands, explore missions for loot, fight hordes, defend your base, There is a boss mode and more. Truly a fun game that isn’t bogged down by nonsense and does not make you pay. Any zombie fan should love this game, but don’t expect the first person shooter style the console games held. This a fresh new take with the Dead Island games. So keep it up guys, you doing great!
  • I like it.

    By Trustin C.
I really don’t like having to wait for chests to open and the time it takes to open them is a little bit harsh, otherwise I really enjoy the game. The chests slow you down, but in my opinion that’s good because you’ll be encouraged to wait for the chests and not just play the game for a really long time in one session. This makes the game last longer before you complete it.
  • Should be in Beta

    By Swamp_Donkeys
*Update* requested to have my account restarted over a week ago, finally started getting into the game and getting somewhere, and they finally reset my game, after I made it places!!! Obviously didn’t test this enough bc they hardly explain anything, took me ages to realize how to go back to previous islands, and now I can’t find out how to replicate. Pretty bland bc you rarely change maps, a lot of things are locked behind huge pay walls, or it’s too difficult. On the off chance that you’re doing well, you may be able to just let the turrets kill the zombies for you, and just farm easy.

    By Sgt. Zman101010
I love this game so much! As a fan of the Dead Island series this game is a must play for Dead Island fans! I hope this game gets good content such as more islands, weapons, gadgets, traps, characters, etc and maybe even a multiplayer mode where you and your friends can place traps repair traps and defend the base kill zombies together loot missions etc! This has been a very amazing game and I can’t wait to see what comes next for this game! P.S Where is Dead Island 2?
  • Amazing game. Great for F2P and leisure

    By AussiePlays
The time limits on the suitcases are really enjoyable as I’m not constantly forced to play the game. All I need to is check-in every 3 hours to do an event and start the opening timer for another suitcase. Improvement I would like to see implemented into the game is the ability to zoom out during the waves and being able to move the screen during the confirmation screen when you put down a trap. Keep up the good work
  • Looks familiar

    By Excoplasm
This game reminds me of a game called Dead Island Epidemic, a game that was shut down shortly after being launched. In fact it has quiet a bit of striking resemblances. The character models look like they were ripped straight from DIE(Dead Island Epidemic) and the overhead view looks quite similar to it as well. Other than that it’s not bad and free so give it a try. It’s a fairly decent strategy game with all the characters you love.
  • Cool game

    By Marcel IV
It’s cool, I mean my only gripe is that you have to wait so long to unlock the chest, or you can play but then you may need them cards to upgrade your person or weapons. I don’t know. It seems to me that you want people to spend money on the gems or whatever otherwise you have to wait hours (sometime 8 hours for the good one) to unlock a chest. I do like the game though so 3.5 stars from me which puts you at 4 because I have no choice
  • Transfer Account

    By baz1k Auguz
Like the game. Am glad to see these characters again. Feeling nostalgic for something I didn’t know I missed. Only problem, no way to transfer data. 2.99 ain’t much, but I would like to be able to save my data in some way and transfer to a better device if the opportunity arises. Other than that I like the basic game as is.
  • This is pretty decently fun and i haven’t even hit multiplayer yet!

    By Skyminer-Kal
This game reminds me a lot of “Toy soldiers” the game and has a really fun feeling and hero selection especially since some are from the original dead island making it have a more nostalgic feeling playing as Sam B. Really fun and i havent even touched multiplayer yet with friends if there is any and if there isn't... well thats ok because i still support dead island. :)
  • Deeper Issues.

    By BettyBoarBrain
Where is Dead Island 2? Putting out a mediocre mobile game will not satisfy players long enough until Dead Island 2 releases (if it’s coming out in the first place). The FANS have been waiting an extremely long time for another console Dead Island game. This mobile cash grab is not enough, by any means, to keep us interested in the franchise, and if this is the only Dead Island release for the next few years, I, and many other players will be extremely disappointed.
  • Great but

    By Miabuelaesun21
I love the Defense/Strategy games and this one is in the top on my choice but my problem is that there are only 4 slots to open suitcases.... but only 1 at a time unless you spend $$$ for GEMs that are needed to speed up it up. That means play 4 times and wait for 2hours , 4hours , 8hours etc.....for something that might be good (upgrades, money, new stuff) for a suitcase to open OR spent more $$$ for more GEMS. Other than that, the game is great.
